Meeting of Working Groups regarding development of Emission Reduction Plans for Electricity Utility Companies

On September 15, 2015, a meeting was held in the BiH Chamber of Commerce to present the draft Emission Reduction Plans for EPBiH and EPRS. The meeting was attended by the representatives of key government institutions in the electricity sector: the Entity Environment and Energy Ministries, Entity and State Energy Regulatory Commissions and Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations (MOFTER).

Working groups made up of representatives of USAID EIA, EPRS and EPBiH prepared Emission Reduction Plans for each company. USAID EIA also assisted Natron-Hayat, a paper manufacturer from Maglaj, to develop its Emission Reduction Plan. These three plans represent the basis for the National Emission Reduction Plan. There were no objections to the contents of the presented Emission Reduction Plans, which included selected measures, estimated costs and investment schedule. The conclusion was to discuss the issue of financing and the possibility of applying two options related to emission limit calculations, which would significantly reduce implementation costs, at a meeting with representatives of the Energy Community Secretariat, scheduled for September 29, 2015.
