The USAID Energy Investment Activity (EIA), UNDP project (project supported by the Czech Development Agency), GIZ project in Bosnia and Herzegovina have agreed to coordinate their activities in the biomass sector and presented its joint program on October 5, 2016 in UN House in Sarajevo. This event was organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina (MOFTER).
The goal of this event was to present joint program in the Bioenergy Sector that will include identification of the gaps in legislation and technical and economic aspects of the sector with a view to improving the situation in the Bioenergy Sector. Dr. Fahrudin Kulic, USAID EIA Senior Engineer, delivered an overview of project activities related to integration of renewable energy sources into the power system, Power Generation on Farms and obstacles in the permitting process for the construction of power generation facilities.
In his introductory address: Dr. Admir Softic, assistant minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relation stated: “Technical assistance provided by international organizations such as UNDP, GIZ, USAID, and others is of utmost importance and we fully support the cooperation that will be presented today”. MOFTER, in its full capacity gives immense support to this effort and there is no doubt that cooperation among these three donors will contribute to the improvement of situation in the Bioenergy sector in all aspects”.
