Signing of Memorandum of Understanding between USAID Bosnia and Herzegovina and Elektroprivreda HZHB

Mostar, January 18, 2016 – The United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) project, the Energy Investment Activity (USAID EIA) has the pleasure to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between USAID BiH and Elektroprivreda HZHB, which will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at the premises of Elektroprivreda HZHB in Mostar, Mile Budaka 106A, at 12:00 p.m. The MOU will be signed by USAID BiH Mission Director Peter Duffy and General Director of Elektroprivreda HZHB Marinko Gilja.

This Memorandum of Understanding will define cooperation between Elektroprivreda HZHB and the USAID Energy Investment Activity Project (USAID EIA) in the analysis of the permitting process for the construction of different types of infrastructure facilities. USAID EIA will monitor the permitting process with the goal to identify the legislative, regulatory and administrative barriers that investors face when investing in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This will be followed by the recommendation of measures, at all levels of government involved, to shorten and simplify the procedures in order to stimulate investment in infrastructure facilities in the country.

To date, the U.S. Government, primarily through USAID, has provided more than $1.6 billion in assistance to support economic, democratic and social progress in BiH.
